NCDOT hosting more hearings on I-95 upgrades, tolls

RALEIGH, N.C. -

North Carolina's Department of Transportation is looking to collect more ideas on ways to pay for upgrades to Interstate 95, including the possible cost of tolls for businesses.

The DOT is holding the first of four public hearings Monday in Smithfield. Others are scheduled for Tuesday in Wilson and next week in Lumberton and Weldon.

The agency heard from about 4,000 people last year.

The Department of Transportation said upgrades are needed along the entire 180-miles from Virginia to South Carolina that would cost nearly $4.5 billion.
