GREENVILLE, N.C. -

A large mural shuts down parts of Uptown Greenville.

On Monday, the Public Art Collaborative, "Art-Force Program" began installing a three- dimensional mural on Fifth and Evans street.

Artist Jan Ru Wan has been working on the building-sized mural since December.

Wan work with Parrot Canvas to create a mural made of different types of materials like metal.

Principal of the Public Art Collaborative Jean Greer, says it's about using art to move Greenville forward.

"It's about adding vibrancy to a change, but exciting change in downtown Greenville. It's about using the arts and having the arts be front and center of that change," said Greer.

Greer says the funding for the mural was provided through a Public Art Collaborative grant.

The public unveiling of the mural is schedule for Wednesday, to celebrate the beginning of the umbrella market season in Greenville.
