"Hiccup Girl" murder trial set for September in Pinellas

Posted: Updated:
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -

"Hiccup Girl" Jennifer Mee appeared in a Pinellas County courtroom Tuesday morning. A judge scheduled her murder trial for September.

Attorney John Trevena said his client has offered to plead guilty to a lesser offense in exchange for a 15-year prison sentence. They are still waiting to hear back from the state.

Mee made national news in 2007 when she got a case of the hiccups that lasted for months. A video she posted on YouTube made her an instant Internet star.

Mee was arrested in 2010 along with two male suspects. Investigators said the trio plotted to kill Shannon Griffin, 22. He was found shot to death in St. Petersburg.

Mee's murder trial is now tentatively set to begin on September 17th at the Pinellas County Courthouse.
