TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A bear captured in a Tampa neighborhood Friday morning has been safely released into the Ocala National Forest.  That's according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Hillsborough County Fire and Rescue and Sheriff deputies responded to a residential neighborhood in Tampa Friday morning when they received a call about a bear climbing a tree.

The house they responded to was close to Lowry Park Zoo, at 2817 Broad St. West.

Deputies and wildlife officials shot the bear with tranquilizer darts. After two darts, the animal fell from the tree onto pads set out to cushion his fall.

Earlier, the Sheriff's Office had asked television helicopters to move back because they were "scaring the bear."

A red tag on the bear's right ear will allow Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials to track where he's been.
