GREENVILLE, N.C. -

A regional science and technology center moved one step closer to reality in Greenville Friday.

The Go-Science organization broke ground on phase one of their new educational center to be housed in the old Pugh's Tire store on Dickinson Street.

The group plans to completely remodel the facility to house it's more than 15 programs including hands-on learning.

"We're excited now that we have a facility.  We have a home base.  We have a place for people to come and experience the sciences and we have a place to grow from," said Roger Conner, Executive Director of Go-Science.

Currently the Go-Science program brings science education to more than 20,000 students a year across the east.
