GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Here in the East, car enthusiasts revved up and prepared to hit the road Saturday morning. Their goal was to raise money for the wounded warrior project.

The project raises money to help soldiers wounded while serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Dozens of people, including Rep. Walter B. Jones met at the Parkers in Greenville to send off the car cruise.

"I put the thought together, well maybe we can raise some money and have car cruise. We can enjoy doing something and give back to those that have given so much for us," said organizer Dan Rogers

Drivers brought out their classic and supped up cars to make the drive to Fayetteville to present a check worth thousands of dollars.

"Anywhere and anytime that's any group that wants to do anything to help our veterans; especially, our wounded. They want me to be there I'm going to be there," said Representative Walter B. Jones.

This is the first car cruise event from Greenville.

Rogers says they hope to make it a annual event.
