NEW BERN, N.C. -

In Craven County, police are keeping an extra careful eye on you to make sure you're wearing your seatbelt.

Police ran a seatbelt checkpoint Wednesday afternoon at the Payless ShoeSource on Martin Luther King Boulevard, watching to see if all drivers are buckled up.

This month is the 20th anniversary of the Click It or Ticket campaign, part of the Governor's Highway Safety Program.

North Carolina was the first state in the nation to launch the safety awareness campaign, which lasts May 20 to the end of the month.
