Man breaks through wall to rob business; latest in string of robberies

Posted: Updated:

Investigators across the East are trying to find out who is breaking through walls to rob businesses.

The latest case happened Wednesday in Farmville. Investigators say a man broke into the back door of B & C LP Gas. The building is connected to the Hustle Mart convenience store. Once inside the gas company, the suspect broke through the wall to enter the Hustle Mart.

Investigators at the Pitt County Sheriff's Office say the man was only inside for about 3 to 4 minutes. They say he tried to disable security cameras and the alarm system, but an alarm did go off.

The suspect didn't steal anything but left a gaping whole in the wall.

This is at least the 10th case in Pitt County with similar circumstances. 2 reports of someone breaking through a wall were also reported in Martin County, and 1 in Edgecombe County.

Back in April, a surveillance camera picked up the man entering a building after cutting a whole through the wall. You can see him empty out  a safe.

Detectives believe these cases could all be related. One man is seen on camera in several cases but they believe others are involved.
