Decades-old mural uncovered in Durham

Posted: Updated:

A decades-old mural, hidden for years, is once again exposed in Downtown Durham.  A Coca-Cola mural at 300 E. Main Street remained hidden behind a plaster wall for years.  Now, the 1940s era artwork is being painstakingly restored.  The building it's in sat vacant for years.  It will soon be home to an event planning agency called The Image Collections as the revitalization of downtown Durham continues.

"You've got...you've got life.  We're bringing life to this corridor of Main Street," Latisha Futrell, communications director for The Image Collections said.

"It's just exciting.  It's exciting that our community is excited about this phase," The Image Collections owner Kimberly Davis said.

The Image Collections will begin hosting parties and events later this summer.
