Onslow County Museum to host annual Children's Discovery Gallery

RICHLANDS, N.C. -

A local museum is preparing for the grand opening of a new exhibit this summer.

The Onslow County Museum in Richlands is getting ready for its 9th annual Children's Discovery Gallery.

It's an exhibit where kids can learn while also having fun by playing games, dressing up in costumes, and having treats.

This year the theme is "A Pirate's Life For Me." Kids can learn about the origins of piracy and how piracy came to an end.

"I like it best when our museum is very loud and alive with those voices because you know they're experiencing things just full force," said Lisa Whitman-Grice, Onslow County Museum spokesperson.

The themes of previous years' exhibits were dinosaurs and space exploration. Whitman-Grace says the theme next year will likely be the Vikings.
