Hot summer jobs

WASHINGTON, N.C. -

As the school year comes to a close, and the tourism season picks up, seasonal jobs become a large part of our economy in eastern North Carolina.

Many seasonal job seekers may look into restaurants and hotels, but Beaufort County JobLink Specialist, Danielle Street, says there are some other industries worth looking into.

"For sure landscaping, with the hot weather. Restaurants with the influx of people, more people are visiting restaurants there is going to need to summer help. Retail stores like Lowe's, Walmart places like that where you have seasonal help that's hiring," said Street.

Street says right now she is seeing more job postings than people coming into the office looking for a job.

Street says if you are looking for a full-time position, one area to look into, and the manufacturing industry.

"I think the manufacturing industry is still popular. There are still postings for local employers," said Street.

Street suggests contacting your local county JobLink office or the Employment Security Commission.
