COLUMBIA, N.C. -

Operators at the Tyrrell County 911 Center took a call Saturday about a black bear running amok, turning over trash cans and damaging a vehicle.

It happened on Old U.S. 64.  That's where investigators found evidence that a bear had turned trash cans over and had taken a wheel cover off a car parked at the residence.

On Sunday, another call was received at the same residence that a black bear had broken a window on a car. Tyrrell County Sheriff Darryl Liverman found the drivers side front window had been broken by a bear on a vehicle belonging to the Town of Nags Head pictured in the photographs.

The photographs show the bear prints on the side of the car and the window broken.

N. C. Wildlife Officials were contacted and stated that the bear was probably looking for food.

Citizens are urged not to put food in trash cans at this time of the year.
