Strong winds, rain in Craven and Onslow following Tropical Storm Andrea

NEW BERN, N.C. -

Folks in Craven County are relieved Tropical Storm Andrea is on its way out. The storm brought heavy wind and soaking rains to much of the North Carolina coast.

The strong gusts caused the waves of the Neuse River to wash over the seawall at Union Point Park in New Bern, and caused minor flooding and ponding in Craven and Onslow.

But emergency service workers say all in all, no major damage reported in Craven or Onslow counties.

"It look like it's going to be a pretty nice day, even though it's kind of windy, but I think the storm is moving fairly fast," said Kevin Green, New Bern resident.

The National Weather Service initially confirmed a tornado in the Hubert area of Onslow County, but they've since backed off from the report after the sheriff's office and others found no significant damage.
