Pack Advances to College World Series; Beats Rice 5-4 in 17 Innings

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Former New Bern star and Pitt Community College standout Brett Williams doubled home Tarran Senay in the top of the 17th inning to lead North Carolina State to a series clinching 5-4 win over Rice on Sunday.

The game was the longest NCAA Super Regional game ever.

North Carolina State won the series two games to none and will head to Omaha for the College World Series for the first time since 1968.

N.C. State's bullpen held Rice without a hit for 7 1-3 innings during the extra frames. The game was also delayed because of a thunderstorm.
