Carolina beats Gamecocks, heads to 10th College World Series

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

North Carolina is headed back to the College World Series in Omaha.

The Tar Heels slipped by South Carolina 5-4 Tuesday to take their Super Regional series from the Gamecocks two games to one.

The Heels won it with a three-run sixth inning. Colin Moran hit an RBI triple in the frame.

Earlier in the game Brian Holberton hit a two-run home run in the second inning.

Staff ace Kent Emanuel picked up his first career save in the victory. Reliever Trent Thornton (11-1) earned the win, allowing one earned run over 4 2-3 innings.

North Carolina will now meet rival North Carolina State in both team's CWS openers on Sunday at 3pm. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
