Boaters rescued off Ocracoke by Coast Guard, Good Samaritan

The Coast Guard and a Good Samaritan rescued two people this afternoon after their sailboat starting taking on water.

It happened around 1:10 p.m. in the Pamlico Sound near Ocracoke.

The crew of the Sea-Ya, a 22-foot sailboat, contacted the Coast Guard after they said their boat was taking on water.

A Good Samaritan arrived on scene and transferred one of the two crew members from the Sea-Ya onto their boat.

Once the Coast Guard arrived everyone was taken to Ocracoke.

There are no reports of injuries.
