Deputies made three felony drug arrests during a weekend checkpoint.
Officials with the Jones County Sheriff's Office said it happened overnight Monday morning in Pollocksville in front of the Trent Motel.
The first arrest came when lawmen smelled marijuana coming from a vehicle. A search turned up a felony amount of pot, drug
paraphernalia and alcohol.
20-year-old Cody Samuel Temple of Emerald Isle was arrested and charged with Manufacture Marijuana(F),
Felony Possession of Marijuana, PWIMSD Marijuana(F), Maintain a Vehicle for
Controlled Substance(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia(M) and Underage
Possession of Alcohol(M). His bond was set at $8,500 secured.
The second and third arrest came from another vehicle in which the driver and passenger were acting nervous. Lawmen then searched the vehicle and found a mobile meth lab in the making. It wasn't operational at the time.
20-year-old Shawn Michael Hume of Maple Hill was arrested and charged with Possession of Meth
Precursors(F) and Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances(F). He was placed in the Jones County Jail under no bond.
24-year-old Scott Richard Lewis of Maple Hill was arrested and charged with Possession of Meth
Precursors(F). He was placed in the Jones County Jail under no bond.
Authorities are expected to release the results of autopsies on the two bodies recovered from the fiery crash that killed "Fast & Furious" actor Paul Walker and his friend.
