N.C. Courts dismiss Congressman complaint

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

An earlier dismissal for an elections complaint against Representative G.K. Butterfield remains canceled.

The North Carolina Court of Appeals unanimously upheld the dismissed complaint that Butterfield's 2012 Democratic opponent filed.

The 1st District Congressman's initialed "G.K" on a candidacy form and not his full name.

This promoted Daniel-Lynn Whittacre to cite state law requiring an additional form for nicknames.

The three-judges serving on the appeals panel disagreed with the claim and nixed the complaint again.

The North Carolina Board of Elections dismissed Whittacre's complaint in June 2012.
