Stop Summer Hunger and help feed students in ENC

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Every summer, hundreds of thousands of students go hungry without access to free or reduced-price meals they receive at school during the year.  Wednesday, June 19th is Stop Summer Hunger Day in cities across eastern North Carolina.

9 On Your Side is partnering with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC to fight summer hunger by feeding the nearly 300,000 kids in need during the summer months.

Here's how you can help:

-          Donate Funds: $1= 5 meals

-          Donate Food: Host a Drive, Drop & Go" Food Drive at your business

-          Join presenting sponsor NetApp in the Share Your Lunch Corporate Initiative to raise 100,000 meals toward the overall goal.

Greenville, New Bern, Jacksonville, Kinston and Morehead City have all declared Wednesday, June 19, "Stop Summer Hunger" Day!

On Wednesday, June 19 in Greenville, dine out at Mellow Mushroom or Ruby Tuesday and they will donate a percentage of proceeds to the Food Bank.

On Wednesday, June 19 in New Bern dine out at Ruby Tuesday or Carolina Grille (also in Havelock) and they will donate a percentage of proceeds to the Food Bank.
