Beaufort County Schools vote to relax dress code

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, N.C. -

There will be some changes to the dress code when students in Beaufort County return to class this fall.

Tuesday night the Beaufort County Board of Education voted to relax the student dress code for the 2013-2014 school year.

Pants can now be any color and jeans will be allowed. However, pants cannot have holes and cannot sag or be too tight. Belts will also not be a requirement.

Shirts have not changed with the dress code. Students are still required to wear collared shirts but they do not have to be tucked in.

These changes only apply to the student dress code.
