Baby penguin born at TN aquarium a good sign for endangered breed

GATLINBURG, T.N. -

There's a new baby penguin at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, TN.

The aquarium recently announced the penguin was born to parents Madon and Tara.  He's one-month-old and weighs only 4 pounds.   Aquarium staff members haven't named him yet.

This tiny new addition to the aquarium is a big accomplishment for the endangered breed of African Black-footed penguins.

A special baby shower is going on at Ripley's for the rest of the month to celebrate the birth.
