It's a big week in golf in eastern North Carolina and the field at this years Cutter Creek Classic is unique to say the least. The NGA Tour event features 6 of the top 10 players at this level, a Web.Com winner, a PGA Tour winner and an actor.
Lucas Black from 42 and Friday Night Lights among other movies has been in the area for two straight weeks with the tour. 9 on Your Side Sports found out yesterday the country boy with an athletic background fits in just right in eastern North Carolina.
He says its been a warm welcome from a place that feels like home.
"I love it here," said Black. "Anytime I get the chance to come to North Carolina I'm ready to go."
He might have the swagger of a movie star but out in Snow Hill he's just one of the guys. Cutter Creek presents its challenges to golfer and actor alike.
"It's a little different (than the movies), maybe you've got an extra take if you don't get it right the first time and you don't have an extra shot in golf, " said Black. "You don't have a mulligan out here so you better get it right the first time."
In his first round Lucas Black shot a 9 over par 81, but Friday he bounced back with an impressive par 72. Unfortunately it does not look like he's going to make the cut this week.
