McCrory scheduled to visit Triad for tour, retreat

RALEIGH, N.C. -

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory is meeting hometown friends and donors of a private nonprofit foundation as he visits the Triad.

McCrory was slated Friday to take one of his small-town "Main Street Tours" in the community of Jamestown. That's where he grew up after his family moved from Ohio to Guilford County.

He was also expected to wrap up participation in a retreat at the Grandover resort outside of Greensboro and put on by the Renew North Carolina Foundation. Guests paid up to $5,000 to attend the event, which featured a Thursday dinner with McCrory and a Friday policy briefing.

McCrory this week defended his participation in the retreat, saying he's doing things properly and the event is no different than other meetings with business groups.
