Booze It & Lose It: Operation Firecracker kicks off today

RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Governor's Highway Safety Program will kick off its Fourth of July "Booze It & Lose It: Operation Firecracker" campaign today.

The statewide campaign targeting drunk drivers on North Carolina roads runs from Friday, June 28, through the July Fourth holiday and ends on Sunday, July 7.

During last year's campaign there were 1,937 DWI citations issued statewide and 361 alcohol-related crashes, which resulted in 17 fatalities.
