Booze It & Lose It kicks off in North Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Beginning Friday June 28th Greenville Police will be participating in the North Carolina governor's highway safety program, 2013 BOOZE IT & LOSE IT, dubbed "Operation Firecracker."

The campaign zeros in on drunken drivers with checkpoints continually set up in all North Carolina counties.

Officers will use six mobile units, better known as BAT-Mobiles. Each Bat-Mobile is equipped with workstations for testing blood alcohol content as well as a magistrates are and other resources.

The most recent statistics show that about one third of all driving fatalities in North Carolina are related to impaired driving.
