Abandoned house catches fire in Greenville

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Fire crews are investigating the cause of an abandoned house fire in Greenville Friday morning.

Chief Eric Griffin tells 9 On Your Side it started around 4:00 a.m. at 1306 Myrtle Street.

When crews got there, smoke and fire could be seen in the front bedroom.

Griffin says a landlord rented the home, but whoever lived there abandoned it about a week ago.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to get the fire under control.  No one was hurt.

Investigators are now on the scene trying to pin down what caused it.
