Deputies: Fight over woman leaves one dead

The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office says an early morning shooting leaves on man dead.

Deputies say they received a call about a shooting just after 1:30a.m. on Sunday. When they arrived at  the Country Estates Trailer Park on Port Court they found 29-year-old James Brockington Jr.  had been shot in the home.  Brockington was transported to Vidant Edgecombe Hospital where he died. 

Deputies say the shooting happened after the two men got in a fight over a woman.

Deputies say the man responsible for the shooting is 30-year-old Maurice Antonio Moore.

Moore turned himself into the Sheriff's office this afternoon. He is charged with second degree murder and is being held in the Edgecombe County Detention Center without bond.
