Stokes water utility announces billing error

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Stokes Regional Water Corporation has announced an error in its billing.

The utility said Monday that the billing notice sent out and dated July 1, 2013  was incorrect. Apparently, the billing program used the wrong previous reading when calculating the bill.

Several customers noticed the mistake and brought it to the attention of officials.

In the meantime, the utility said customers should the bill (dated 7-1-2013). A new bill is scheduled to be issued at the end of the week.

Likwise, the due date will chage to allow cusomers sufficient time to pay the correct amount due.
