Insects a problem due to heavy rain

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Millipedes, ants, and cockroaches.

Pest control companies tell 9 On Your Side they've been getting all sorts of calls since the rain started coming down last week.

"The ants go to bushes for honeydew producing insects and the rain washes that honeydew away so their food source gets depleted and they tend to come inside searching for food," said Peter Schonemann, Russ Pest Control of Ayden.

Schonemann said it's a good idea to keep bushes and trees trimmed and pots and woodpiles away from your house.

Insects just need food, water and shelter to survive.

If you reduce those things, you'll reduce your insect problem.
