Inmate home visitation program changes - Greenville, NC | News | Weather | Sports - WNCT.com

Inmates still allowed to make home visits

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

Governor Pat McCrory recently approved changes to a program allowing inmates to make home visits.

According to the Department of Public Safety, inmates nearing the end of their sentences must notify the victim and District Attorney when they go on home leave. Certain provisions bar sex offenders from participating.

The program is controversial whether to keep it in existence.

The state prosecutors wanted the governor to end the program but the changes only make it more difficult for certain inmates.
