Mount Olive minister pleads guilty to child pornography charge

Posted: Updated:
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - A Mount Olive minister has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.

42-year-old Timothy Jack Strickland made the plea in federal court on Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Strickland engaged in a chat in March 2013 with a FBI Task Force Officer who observed a directory of child pornography files. A search warrant later executed at the Pentecostal minister’s home turned up a laptop, several hard drives and other media devices that stored about 11,000 images of child pornography.

Strickland faces up to 20 years imprisonment in August 2014. If it’s determined that he has had prior convictions related to sexual abuse, abusive sexual conduct with a minor, or an offense related to child pornography or sex trafficking of children, he faces up to 40 years imprisonment.
