Solar Impulse, a solar-powered airplane, successfully landed at New York's JFK International Airport, setting a new milestone in the history of aviation.

For the first time, a plane capable of flying day and night powered exclusively by solar energy, crossed the country from the west to the east coast without using a single drop of fuel.

The Solar Impulse's arrival in New York marks the culmination of its journey which started in early May in San Francisco.

The journey took just over 105 hours and included stops in Phoenix and Washington, D.C. among other cities.
