Snake knocks out power to 1,200 Greenville residents

Posted: Updated:

Greenville Utilities tells 9 On Your Side that a snake is the cause of a power outage in Greenville.

Around 1am this morning a corn snake got into the insulators on the cross arm of a power pole near the railroad tracks at Bloomsbury Road and Westminster Circle.

The snake became a conduit to the power between the insulators and caused the insulators to blow. This caused the surrounding areas around Brook Valley Country Club to lose power for half an hour.

1,263 customers were affected by the outage.
