Kinston men caught in the act stealing telephone wire

KINSTON, N.C. -

Lenoir County Deputies have arrested two men after catching them in the act, stealing telephone wire from a business.

On July 7, 2013 around 6:45 pm deputies began an investigation into larceny of telephone wiring from LJ Construction on Wallace Family Road. The deputies found tools and evidence of a robbery. They suspected the suspects would return for their tools, so two detectives conducted surveillance on the business.

Just after midnight a detective spotted a vehicle moving slowly past the business and then stop. The deputies approached two suspects who were in the act of stealing the wiring. Both tried to run, but were caught a short distance away.

Kendall Brent Wells, 26, of Kinston and Jeremy Ryan Pittman, 18, of Kinston were arrested and charged with two counts of first degree trespassing, two counts of misdemeanor larceny, possession of stolen goods and other charges. Both were confined in the Lenoir County Sheriffs' Detention Center under $2,300.00 secured bond.
