KINSTON, N.C. -

Marijuana Eradication Operation is a success for Lenoir County Sheriff's Office team up with the NC State Highway Patrol Air Division.

Twenty-one marijuana plants worth around $105,000 when fully matured were seized on June 4, 2013 when the NCSHP Air Division helicopter spotted the plants growing behind a home.  Two Kinston men were arrested.

Michael Anthony Hood, 37, was charged with manufacturing marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances.  Eric Lee Hood, 33, was charged with possession of cocaine that was found in the residence during a consented search.

The June operation is a annual event for local law enforcement agencies to join in the attempt to locate marijuana manufacturing sites.

Sheriff Chris Hill stated in press release "This is great work by all of the partnering agencies.  We are grateful and proud to have one of the NCSHP helicopters stationed in our county.  This State asset has been extremely beneficial during drug investigations, missing persons, locating stolen property and making fugitive arrests."
