Utility crews find woman's engagement ring in sewer pipe

TEQUESTA, F.L. -

When a utility crew showed up to clean sewer lines in a Florida neighborhood last week a woman who lives there approached them with an odd request: "Please find my diamond engagement ring."

The woman says her ring slipped off her finger and down the drain while she was giving her son a bath.

Utility workers said it was like looking for a needle in a haystack.  After spending about an hour sifting through sewage, one of the workers hit pay dirt.  He returned the ring to a very surprised Mrs. Harrigan.

"And he pulled it out of his pocket and he said 'does it look like this,' and I started crying," said Shannon Harrigan.

"I just know how my wife would feel if she lost hers, so I figured we'd give it the best shot we could," said utility worker Ryan Robertson.

Harrigan has been married for five years.  She says she and her husband are very happy to have the ring back.
