FARMVILLE, N.C. -

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office has arrested a pair in connection to stolen gutters.

On July 2, 2013 Farmville Police took a report of a larceny. The victim had contacted the Sheriff's Office due to the fact the gutters were made of copper and felt that the thieves would have taken same to a metal recycler.

The Sheriff's Office made contact with metal recyclers in the county to be on the lookout for these copper gutters. Foss Recycling contacted police and advised that they just purchased some from David Whitfield. Shortly afterward, Willies Recycling contacted police and advised that they had just purchased a set of copper gutters from Stephanie Awadallah. Stephanie Awadallah is David Whitfield Jr.'s pregnant girlfriend.

Farmville Police charged David Whitfield with Felony Larceny and the Sheriff's Office charged both subjects with Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretense, Unlawful Transport more than 25 pounds of copper on state highways, and Aid and Abet Obtaining Property by False Pretense.

David Whitfield Jr. was placed in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond. Stephanie Awadallah was arrested and given a $3,000 bond.
