Mayoral races set in Greenville, New Bern

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Friday at noon the deadline to file to run for mayor passed.

In New Bern 7 people will appear on the ballot, but none of them will be current New Bern mayor Lee Bettis. He decided he would not run for re-election.

But city aldermen Sabrina Bengel, Denny Bucher and Dana Outlaw are running. As well as Edwin Vargas, Dale Simmons Sr., Barbara Lee and Tharesa Chadwick Lee.

The ballot in Greenville will not be as crowded. Current mayor Allen Thomas will face off against chairman of the city's preservation of neighborhoods and housing task force, Tom Best.
