People of West, TX fill up their gas tanks for free

Posted: Updated:
WEST, T.X. -

People living in the town of West, TX, the site of that massive fertilizer plant explosion, got some much needed help Monday- free gas.

For three hours, residents, volunteers and first responders got free gas.

The SoupMobile, a non-profit charity based in Dallas offered $20 of free gas to each vehicle.

"The SoupMobile brought the group down to let the people know we hadn't forgotten about them and to try and remind other people that they're still here and there are still needs," said Lon Ricker, SoupMobile Director of Development.

SoupMobile's motto is "Offering a hand up, not a hand out."
