2 men arrested after crystal meth discovery

BEAUFORT, N.C. -

Deputies jailed two men after they discovered 18 bags of crystal meth, digital scales and a sale ledger.

The Carteret County Sheriff's Office said it all started with a disturbance call at the Bay Meadows MHP in Morehead City.

When deputies arrived on the scene, 57-year-old William David Ballou told them he wanted a guest removed from his home. They found 34-year-old Michael Joseph Hedaria of Clinton unconscious in a bedroom along with 18 separate plastic bags that contained "crystal meth", 87 Schedule IV pills and 80 Sudafed pills (precursor for methamphetamine production), digital scales and a sale ledger.

Ballou was charged with several offenses, including 2 Counts Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule III, 2 Counts of Sell and Deliver Schedule III, and 2 Counts of Maintaining a Dwelling to Sell and Store a Controlled Substance. He was placed under a $10,000 secured bond.

Hedaria was charged with several offenses, including 1 Count of Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine, 1 Count of Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, and 2 Counts of PWISD Schedule IV (Alprazolam). His bond was initially set at $75,000 secured, later changed to No Bond due to pending drug charges in other counties.
