NC black municipal officials hold summer meeting

Black elected municipal officials from across North Carolina are meeting in Rocky Mount for their summer conference.

The sessions are slated to open Thursday and continue through Sunday. State NAACP President the Rev. William Barber is scheduled to address the group as is state Attorney General Roy Cooper.

Members of the group will be able to share notes, get legislative updates and to meet with businesspeople seeking to do business with their towns and cities.

The North Carolina Black Elected Municipal Officials organization includes mayors and council members from 540 towns and cities across the state.
