One man dead, one arrested in overnight shooting

MANTEO, N.C. -

A man is dead and another is behind bars in Dare County after an overnight shooting Friday.

Dare County Sheriff's deputies responded to a shots fired call on Fernando Street, Roanoke Island around 1:00 am on July 26, 2013. When they arrived they found a victim shot. Dare EMS transported the victim to The Outer Banks Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Edgar Govan of Fernando Street is currently being held on a murder charge at the Dare County Detention center under a $300,000 bond. He had a first court appearance Friday morning. 

His next court appearance is set for August 1.

The name of the victim is being withheld upon notification of the next of kin.
