Salmonella probe report questioned by Fayetteville hotel

Posted: Updated:
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

The manager of a Fayetteville hotel is questioning a report by state regulators into a salmonella outbreak that left 100 people sick in May.

That report identified the All American Grill in the Holiday Inn Bordeaux as the source. The report said while investigators could not identify a specific food source, the salmonella was likely spread through cross-contamination of food and restaurant surfaces.

But The Fayetteville Observer reports that hotel manager Scooter Deal said without finding a specific cause, the report is only speculative.

Deal said restaurant managers were not aware that employees may have continued to work while they were sick. He said it's important to note that restaurant policy requires sick workers to go home.

Deal said the hotel is still investigating the outbreak.
