Man rescued after falling into manhole in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

The Fayetteville Fire Department rescued a man who had fallen about 10 feet into a manhole Monday morning.

Fire crews extracted the 30-year-old man at 8:20 a.m. from the manhole off Rivergate Road at Lake Haven Drive.

Authorities say he fell 10 feet after losing his footing while climbing from the manhole. The man was working in the area on a PWC water and sewer project in the Arran Lakes West Subdivision.

The man was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital for evaluation; however authorities said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening
