Bedford Police have charged Evelina Nellum, 56, with attempted first degree murder.

The charge stems from an incident on the night of July 29, when police responded to a stabbing call. When they arrived at the location on Plunkett Street in Bedford, they found that Nellum had repeatedly cut her husband Terry with a butcher knife.

Mr. Nellum, 46, was treated at Bedford Memorial Hospital. Evelina Nellum was taken to Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where she's being held without bond.
