Greenville leaders host town hall meeting at Mellow Mushroom

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Economic development, roadways and crime were the hot topics at Greenville's Town Hall meeting Tuesday night.

City leaders met with the community at Mellow Mushroom to keep everyone in the know about current and future projects for Greenville.

Mayor Allen Thomas and Police Chief Hassan Aden were just two of at least 10 public officials who spoke at the meeting.

Questions and concerns from the community included attracting young professionals to the city and creating activities for under-served children.

"Greenville is such an untapped resource. We have such wonderful potential here. We spent the past year and a half/two years putting together our framework in the city of infrastructure, roads, economic development, a new police chief. Now where the rubber meets the road we're making real changes here," said Mayor Allen Thomas.

Thomas decided to have the meeting at Mellow Mushroom to create a more relaxed environment. He says he plans to have similar meetings every couple months at different restaurants throughout the city.
