Posted: Updated:

The Magnolia Arts Center is launching an amazing play.

"Raisin in the Sun" opens Friday night.

It's the critically acclaimed story of an African-American family struggling for a better life.

They're crowded in a Chicago apartment, and each of them have their own ideas of what a better life actually means.

You can see the show at the Music Academy of Eastern North Carolina on Red Banks Road.

It runs August 2-4 and August 8-9. Thursday, Friday and Saturday tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Sunday's matinee show starts at 2 and you only have to pay what you can to get in.
