Authorities say a 22-year-old Raleigh man was driving 76 mph with his 7-year-old nephew in the car when they crashed at an intersection, killing them both.

According to a police report, around 8:20 p.m., Tyeqauze Damar O'Neal was traveling westbound on East Millbrook Road in a 1994 Toyota Camry when he lost control, crossed the center line and hit a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Authorities said O'Neal was traveling 76 mph in an area where the speed limit is 35 mph.

O'Neal's nephew, Kyrail McLean, was pronounced dead at the scene. O'Neal died later at WakeMed, police said.

A family friend told police that  O'Neal had just picked up McLean from basketball practice when he wrecked.

Dominique Leeshaun King, who was also in O'Neal's car, survived the accident. He was listed in good condition Sunday.

The two people in the PT Cruiser, Mackenzie Moore and 14-year-old Savannah Astheimer, were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.

Raleigh police reopened Six Forks Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday
