Summertime is always a tough time for blood banks.
People are travelling and not as many of them are donating.
This summer is no exception.
Greenville Public Works employees helped supply the need Wednesday.
The Red Cross set up shop in the assembly room and the employees came in droves.
The Red Cross hoped to get 75-pints. That could help save 225 people.
"During the summer months we find that people are travelling on the road, going on vacation and they tend to forget about donating blood," said Theresa Tripp, Red Cross Blood Services Supervisor. "Then, on the other hand, while they are forgetting to donate blood and because people are on the road travelling, we also run into the situation of car wrecks and summer injuries that require blood."
If you would like to donate, the Red Cross holds regular donor hours at their Cromwell Drive Center off Red Banks Road in Greenville.
