Fayetteville police arrest suspect in Inn Keeper homicide

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville police said on Saturday the suspect in an Aug. 5 murder at the Inn Keeper on Skibo Road turned himself in.

Lonnie Edward Johnson is charged with first degree murder in the death of Benny Lamar Fields.

Police responded to the Inn Keeper Hotel at 1720 Skibo Road at approximately 10:43 p.m. Aug. 5 in reference to a shooting. When they arrived on scene, they found Fields unconscious in the parking lot with gunshot wounds in the chest and back.

Fields was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Fayettecville detectives are asking for the public's help in locating the gold Lincoln LS with North Carolina license plate BCY-8895.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of this vehicle is asked to contact the Fayetteville Department's Homicide Unit at 433-1856.
